- The season gets derailed by injuries to key contributors.
- End of the rotation starting pitchers can't get through innings for the bullpen to finish the job.
- Strikeouts overpower the home runs.
- They get sloppy and beat themselves.
It is extremely tough to beat the 2018 Yankees as long as all of their key players are on the field. But like any good team in any sport they must avoid the injury-bug to keep the success going. Another factor is the starting pitching, which has been solid, but is still one of the weakest links of this team. Ace of the staff, Luis Severino, and veteran starter, CC Sabathia, are consistent but it remains to be seen that the 4th and 5th starting pitchers can be fully trusted to provide valuable innings in the postseason. As long as this powerful lineup matches their strikeouts with long balls and they don't make silly mistakes out in the field, this Yankees team will be a force to be reckon with come October.
