4 Factors That Can Cause The Yankees To Miss Out On #28 This Year

With the addition of 2017 National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton to go along with the young core of talented players on the Yankees roster who gained valuable postseason experience after last years premature run, it seems like it is the Yankees time to win now and bring another title back to New York. There are not many things that stand in the way of this Yankees team being the last men standing after this season, but there are some possible concerns:

  1. The season gets derailed by injuries to key contributors.
  2. End of the rotation starting pitchers can't get through innings for the bullpen to finish the job.
  3. Strikeouts overpower the home runs.
  4. They get sloppy and beat themselves.

But like any good team in any sport they must avoid the injury-bug to keep the success going. Another factor is the starting pitching, which has been solid, but is still one of the weakest links of this team. Ace of the staff, Luis Severino, and veteran starter, CC Sabathia, are consistent but it remains to be seen that the 4th and 5th starting pitchers can be fully trusted to provide valuable innings in the postseason. As long as this powerful lineup matches their strikeouts with long balls and they don't make silly mistakes out in the field, this Yankees team will be a force to be reckon with come October.
